    What makes it fun

This stunning Italianate villa style house was bought by John Wesley Mann, his wife, and their two young boys, Howard and J. W. Jr., in 1874. Mr. Mann was an affluent business man in Waco. In 1884, he built added an "Entertainment Wing" to the home. This wing included a ballroom for extravagant parties. The East Terrace is still furnished with many objects originally owned by the Mann Family. Stepping onto the grounds of the East Terrace is like taking an elegant step back in time the days of lavish homes and sophisticated balls. It all sounds quite romantic!

Great tour of a beautiful home. The guide was well informed and added local color to the tour. About 1 1/2 hours.

Open Wednesdays through Saturdays with hourly tours from 10am-3pm. Entry is an easy $5, guides are local volunteers with love of history and share the family history of this beautiful Victorian beacon. It was peculiar how many outdoor access doors the house had accumulated after it’s 3 additions were completed. Easy tour to spend an hour when enjoying a leisurely trip to Waco.

This place is definitely worth visiting. It has a lot of interesting things to see. It's pretty cheap to get in. Go on the tour it makes it even better. The tour guide was very nice and informative.

Beautiful historic property inside and out. Many wonderful antiques...lighting, cut glass, Haviland China, primitives, textiles, quilts, iron toys...etc. Our host gave an impressive tour and pointed out many architectural gems. She herself having been educated in American Cabinet/furniture makers was a wealth of knowledge. We really enjoyed spending time with her shared knowledge.

Wonderful! The house is gorgeously restored, the tour guide was excellent, and much of the furniture is original to the house. The current debutante exhibit was very interesting, and the tour guide was able to answer all of our questions knowledgeably. One of the best historical house tours I’ve ever had the pleasure of being on.
