I stumbled across Blue Hills Ranch and on a whim I booked two nights in the giraffe cabin and the dine with the giraffes experience.
Matt, Ann, Jackie and the rest of the team were the most kind and accommodating people of nearly any place we have visited - and we adventure a lot! And the food was🤌🏼
For the giraffe experience, we actually stayed inside the barn for the duration. It was a little cool, and with a cold front coming they didn’t want to risk them getting out in the pasture and deciding that was better than the warm barn and them be unable to get them back inside. I can’t imagine trying to truck a 17’ tall animal into an confined space lol
We opted to get our charcuterie board sent to our cabin and we drank wine and fed Violet, Google, Meadow and her baby.
Blue has his own barn/enclosure and he is let out each morning to roam his enclosure. Being as we stayed on the property we were able to visit him any time he wasn’t in his barn during the day.
The property is growing and changing and the owner is working on constantly improving - the accommodations and the experiences. As someone obsessed with giraffes and likes low key, it was perfect. There are lots of deer: fallow, axis and blackbuck that roam the hills and venture close to the cabins.
Our safari ride took us out to see the zebras. Very greedy snackers lol British White cattle roam part of the acreage. Several Donkeys just hangout all over with Horses and ponies. The kangaroos were sweet and fun to watch. The otters made a fan out of me.
We had a wonderful time. It was slow paced, low key, relaxing and fun. The cabin was clean and homey. We will be back!
