An outstanding farm-to-table experience! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The homemade bread, cheeses, and desserts were exceptional. What made the experience even more memorable was the genuine kindness of everyone we met. The staff made us feel truly welcome. We only wish we had discovered this place sooner. We'll definitely be back—and next time we're bringing a cooler so we can take home more of their amazing cheeses! Thank you Liz for your outstanding service!!!

Update: Jessica is truly the sweetest.. every time she serves us, she’s personable, caring and full of light.
It’s a beautifully crafted wood restaurant in Heritage Homestead— plenty of soft natural light. Very kind service but slow.. everything is cooked homestyle so I don’t mind. The biscuits with honey and oven-fresh peach cobbler are my favorite.. I always look forward to returning :)

The biscuits were my favorite part of the meal, but we also got the smashed fries, chicken fried chicken, meatloaf, and blackberry cobbler. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was just as good!

This place is beautiful beyond words. The staff was friendly & helpful. The food was also beyond describable. We had the chicken fried steak & the brisket enchiladas. They take pride in their craft, their food, the environment keeps you coming back. Time & money VERY well spent.

Cafe Homestead is truly a hidden gem — a diamond in the rough tucked away so well I’m pretty sure the locals are trying to keep it a secret from the rest of us. From the moment we walked up to the restaurant, I knew this place was something special. The cafe is absolutely beautiful, elegant, spotless, well-maintained, and organized so well it could probably teach my closet a few life lessons.
As we approached the hostess station, the prettiest hostess greeted us and for a brief second I honestly thought I had accidentally wandered into the Pearly Gates. Ms. Liz — and yes, apparently the “Batman symbol” in the spelling of her name is silent — greeted us with the biggest smile, an amazing sense of humor, kindness, professionalism, and enough positive energy to power the whole restaurant. In my humble opinion, Ms. Liz deserves a promotion because she showed natural leadership from the moment we walked in. Ms. Rebecca, the other hostess, was equally awesome and welcoming. Ms. Liz took down our number and placed us on the waiting list with about a 30-minute wait, but honestly the atmosphere alone made the time fly by.
Once our name was called, Ms. Liz escorted us to a booth in Ms. Susie’s section. Now let me tell you something about Ms. Susie — she was outstanding. Friendly, efficient, polite, welcoming, and constantly moving like she had rocket boosters hidden somewhere. Even though she was clearly busy taking care of several tables, she made us feel like we were her only customers. She got our drinks quickly, gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, and made sure to repeat our order back to us for accuracy. That kind of attention to detail deserves applause nowadays.
We started with the Smashed Fries for $12.00, and good gracious were they amazing. Ten small red potatoes baked, smashed, and fried until crispy, then topped with Parmesan cheese and chives with a side of ranch dip. These things were so good they could’ve been the main course all by themselves. Crispy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned — basically little golden hockey pucks of happiness.
Next came the Chicken Fried Steak for $17.00, smothered in white cream gravy and served with mashed potatoes and a homemade dinner roll. That steak was fork-tender, perfectly seasoned, and downright delicious. The dinner roll came out hot, fluffy, and soft enough to make you emotional. We also ordered the battered chicken breast, also covered in white cream gravy with mashed potatoes and another homemade roll. That chicken was juicy, tender, and seasoned so well it almost made me stand up and testify right there in the restaurant.
And then came the king of the table — the Reuben sandwich. Listen… if I’m lying, I’m dying, this was hands down one of the best Reubens I have ever eaten in my life. Thinly shaved corned beef, Swiss cheese, house-made sauerkraut on marbled rye bread with Thousand Island dressing, homemade potato chips, and a dill pickle spear. This sandwich was so good it might make you want to slap your mama… or somebody else’s mama if yours isn’t nearby. Every bite was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
Overall, every single staff member we encountered was attentive, professional, polite, and genuinely welcoming. Great food will bring people in once, but great people make them come back again and again. I would absolutely return to Cafe Homestead not only for the amazing food, but also to see the sweet and wonderful Ms. Liz, Ms. Rebecca, and Ms. Susie again.
If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and visit this awesome place. Grab a seat, enjoy some incredible food, and be sure to say howdy to Ms. Liz, Ms. Rebecca, and Ms. Susie. Hope to see y’all there!

This was an amazing stop that happened by chance. The Heritage Village is a step back in time. The Cafe Heritage has been my favorite stop during my recent visit to Waco. Beautiful building, excellent service by Hosanna (definitely singing her praises), and the food was great. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.

We ordered corn fritters, meatloaf, and chicken fried steak. Everything was delicious. For dessert we couldn't decide so we ordered blackberry and peach cobbler ala mode. Hosanna brought it out so we each had 1/2 blackberry and 1/2 peach in our dish, perfertion!!

If I could give 10 stars, I would.

We literally drove from Houston to Waco ONLY to come to have dinner at this restaurant. After visiting so many top tier places, no one can actually come close to this place.

The food is just amazingly good. Anything you order on the menu will be rich in flavor and to die for. From the most simplest dish, a wedge salad to the Ribeye, trout, spinach dip…. The desserts ? Omg, you just have blackberry cobbler.

The service is LEGITIMATELY so good, they are all so true to themselves on the way they treat their clientele, so honest, nothing of that BS you see on any other places with fake speeches.

We have been coming here for 5 years or more so far, and we will always hit Waco to visit homestead.

Thank you so much for everything

Not worth the $. I spent $152 for 4 lunch meals with dessert. The portion size for the sandwiches was good, but you pay $20 for a salad that would be the side salad at other restaurants. The desserts weren't even good and they were really small. The carrot cake at Saltgrass Steakhouse is a million times better. It's just not worth the money.

Dinner was amazing! My wife and I both had the filet mignon. She had the side salad wedge and I had the sweet potato soup without jalapeños.

This place is amazing. Great food, pleasant relaxing atmosphere and improving service. Talk about farm to table. I'm pretty sure they actually make the table as well. First of all, what an amazing group of people. So down to earth, friendly and wholesome. We haven't been to the chocolate factory yet but the glass-blowing place, leather shop, wood working and all the other little shops are absolutely amazing. Luckily, they are about 10 minutes away from us. Absolutely worth a visit. This place gets insane busy so get a reservation or be ready for a bit of a wait. The bright side, we got to visit all those shots during our wait. EDIT: We just recently went to the Christmas concert and just wow. Beautiful music performed by amazing folks.

Walking into the Cafe you can tell it will be a special experience. I immediately wondered if the prices were going to be high. But I'm not sure you could find a better value anywhere else in Texas!

The choice of food is good, the quality it great, and the flavor is simply fantastic. Everything was better than expected.

The most important of all is the service. Not only did the young lady serve us well, she was friendly, helpful and made us feel truly welcome. It was like visiting family.

    We highly recommend Cafe Homestead.

At first they sit 13 in a 10 person Booth. I thought this is going to be terrible. The neighbors left the table I told Mathew our waiter to give us the table to be comfortable he agreed. He saved the day my hero. Food was great.

Loved everything we ordered! We got the chicken fried chicken, chicken salad sandwich, and bbq brisket sandwich. We were already stuffed but had to order the key lime pie! It was #tdf!!! It tasted so fresh, just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back and check out the activities!! Make sure to make a reservation, if possible!

Amazing!!! The restaurant is beyond gorgeous. The smash potatoes and their ranch, chef's kiss. I got the cheeseburger and my hubby the chicken fried steak and then we shared. Both were delicious. Unlike most places that do cf steak, this steak and breading was seasoned so well. Dessert is next!!! Come have some food and enjoy the craftsmanship all around you.
