It was such a fun zoo! It is not to big either we spent about 2.5 hours at the zoo! I will honestly say even the food items were bot badly priced. They have great picnic areas. I really appreciated how many places there were to grab some AC which was nice during the hot day we went. We cannot wait to go back!

This zoo is well maintained, beautiful paths, and very nice. It only took us like 2-3 hours to go through it. You can bring your water in and they have refill stations in various places. Also there were zoo employees located throughout the zoo at different viewing stations giving you information about the animals. Such a nice zoo. We had a wonderful time here.

Visiting from out of state and our family tradition is to visit the local zoo. So we’ve been to quite a few to say the least. This zoo was great!! The quality and quantity of exhibits was complimentary to the price of admission. I think if you are a local in the county you get a discount too. It was an almost 2 mile walk around and we took our time. It was clean and we saw most of the animals even at mid-day in the summer!

Easily one of the best zoos around. The entire park is incredibly scenic, filled with lush greenery, and has a great, active environment for the animals. It is a fantastic place to visit if you want a truly beautiful and high-quality zoo experience. Truly a hidden gem.

This was our very first visit to Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, TX, and let me tell you, this place was absolutely wild… and I’m not just talking about the animals. From the moment we walked in, the zoo delivered a fun, exciting, and well-organized experience that had us roaming around like kids who just discovered unlimited snack money.
One of the highlights of our visit was meeting Ms. Olivia, one of the Zoo Attendants. Ms. Olivia was friendly, welcoming, full of energy, and had enough zoo knowledge to make you think she personally interviewed every animal there. She made the visit both entertaining and educational, but sadly had to leave us because she was on a serious “BOLO” mission… Be On the Look Out for some lost grandparents. Thankfully, the missing grandparents were quickly reunited with their group, proving the zoo staff can handle both wildlife and wandering grandparents with expert precision.
The zoo itself is fantastic. There are plenty of shaded areas, rest stops, clean restrooms, and water fountains everywhere for emergency rehydration after realizing Texas heat does not play around. The layout is easy to follow and gives you the chance to see all kinds of amazing animals including lions, rhinos (not RINOs… completely different species), giraffes, orangutans, and many more.
The animal habitats were very well maintained, and every walkway we saw was spotless and free from debris or slip hazards. It’s clear the staff takes a lot of pride in keeping the zoo clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
We definitely plan on visiting Cameron Park Zoo again in the near future. If you see us there wandering around looking for the giraffes or trying to negotiate with the snack stand, be sure to say hello.

A small zoo, not a lot to offer but spaced out. The fish aquariums were very disappointing. The lack of care and cleaning, corals visibly appear damaged, and dying, which is heartbreaking. The filth in the tanks and on the glass. Corals are very important to the ecosystem. I've visited massive zoos with more species that take better care of the massive enclosures. Something needs to be done for these animals, absolutely unacceptable.

I love coming here and experiencing the exhibits and viewing the animals. Sometimes the vultures are a bit much and it looks like the savannah animals are uncomfortable with so many of them. The food is reasonably priced and plentiful. And the tickets were relatively cheap compared to larger zoos. This is my local go-to zoo to walk around when I'm not going on runs through the park/trails of Cameron park. There was a bit of a wait at the entrance since we were there at exactly opening and the card readers went down and was spotty all day, which wasn't a problem for me but left our entrance wait at about 15 to 20 minutes instead of the usual 5 to 10.

This is a small zoo, but it still has a wide selection of exotic wildlife to see. If you find yourself in Waco, TX, it is definitely worth checking out.

This was a great zoo! It’s not very large but has a lot of variety of animals. Was a great size for our family with 3 young children. They loved the day here!

Not a fan of caged animals but it was quite interesting to see them moving about and engaging. The kids were excited to learn about the different animals. Pretty cool

For a town the size of Waco, I was very much impressed by the size, variety of animals, and quality of facilities at this zoo. I am avid zoo goer, so you can trust me when I say this is worth your time. I was surprised to find an abundant display of both reptiles and aquatic animals in addition to the normal zoo fair, such as tigers, Bob cats, lions, elephants, etc.

We love our zoo and CANNOT WAIT for the Penguin Attraction. Cameron Park Zoo can we please have meet the penguin opportunities?

Buy tickets if you can in advance if you can but be sure they are downloaded or emailed to you before you enter.

They have a great playground area, there are several opportunities to find shade, and 99% of the animals prefer Texas to their country of origin. ;)

You'd have to be crazy to go to a zoo in Texas in summer right?

Not at all if you go to Cameron Park zoo. This place is built to bust the heat. The covered walkways create the perfect shade as you walk along. There are plenty of COLD water stations along the way to quench your thirst and refill your water bottles. The exhibits are also a mix of indoor air conditioned spaces and outdoor spaces. Walk outdoors a bit and just when you're getting hot, there's an indoor exhibit with a water station and clean bathrooms.

The exhibits and habitats were all well maintained and the animals seemed well taken care of. You could get really close to some of the animals here. There's a really good mix of native animals and others from around the world to enjoy.

They're doing a bunch of upgrades around the property, lemur Island was closed and the new penguin exhibit wasn't open yet, but it looks really fun. We ordered food at the cafe for lunch and it was better than expected. The staff was friendly and active taking care of the facility.

What an incredible zoo. I didn't know what to expect since it is a bit smaller town. It is so well kept and taken care of. All the animals seemed very well kept, they were very active and had quite large habitats. We got to see the African elephant come down to the water area right in front of the fence and take a bath, spent about 30 minutes with the orangutan because they came and sat right in front of me and followed be around to different parts, and really looking forward to the new penguin exhibit they are building.

I recently visited Cameron Zoo, and it was a wonderful experience. The presence of African animals added an exotic touch to the zoo, creating a unique and engaging atmosphere. The facility was impeccably clean, enhancing the overall enjoyment of our visit. My daughters particularly loved walking through the zoo, and the highlight for them was discovering a slide inside the otters' tank. It brought immense joy to see them having a blast interacting with the playful otters. Cameron Zoo is a fantastic place for families to explore and create lasting memories.
