Halloween is creeping around the corner, and that means it’s time to trade your usual date for something a little more spooktacular. Waco has plenty of spots to make your spooky season date frightfully fun. So, grab your favorite ghost or ghoul and get ready for a hauntingly good time at these romantic spots.
1) Wait Until Dark at Waco Civic Theatre~ A Thriller Made for a Fright Night
Dim the lights and prepare to hold your sweetheart a little closer during a performance of Wait Until Dark at Waco Civic Theatre, running October 22 through November 1. Frederick Knott’s classic thriller follows Susy Hendrix, a recently blind woman who finds herself caught in a dangerous game with criminals searching for a mysterious doll. As the tension builds and darkness becomes part of the story, this is the kind of theater date that has you sitting on the edge of your seat and reaching for your sweetie’s hand when things get tense.
2) Día de los Muertos Waco at Indain Spring Park~ Love, Life & La Catrina
Celebrate the beauty of Día de los Muertos together at Día de los Muertos Waco on October 31 at Indian Spring Park. The free celebration runs from 4–10 p.m. and features a colorful parade, live music and dance, local vendors, food, art installations, face painting, and plenty of opportunities to learn about and celebrate this meaningful tradition. Dress up in colorful calavera-inspired looks, stroll along the Brazos River, and take in the festive atmosphere with your sweetheart. With so much color, music, and culture, this is one Halloween-season date that’s truly to die for, in the best way possible.
3) Paranormal Experience at the Dr Pepper Museum~ Wouldn’t You Like to Be a Ghost Hunter, Too?
Think you know the Dr Pepper Museum? You might want to think again after dark! The Paranormal Experience at Dr Pepper Museum takes guests on a two hour guided investigation through both historic museum buildings, including the normally off limits basement of the Kellum-Rotan Building. You and your sweetheart can hear about reported activity such as shadow figures, voices, apparitions, and mysterious orbs before using EMF readers and other investigative equipment to see if you can uncover something supernatural yourselves. It’s a seriously spooky date!
4) Waco Ghost Tour with Brazos Tours~ Get Your Boo on the Move
Ready to explore Waco’s darker side with your favorite boo? Brazos Tours takes couples on a mobile paranormal adventure through some of the city’s most haunted and legendary locations. The approximately two hour experience travels from downtown Waco to places like sites connected to the 1953 tornado, the former red-light district, and historic Cameron Park, while guides share chilling stories and give guests opportunities to experience some of the paranormal activity for themselves. It’s a spooky date that gives you plenty of excuses to hold hands.
This Halloween, skip the ordinary routine and make your date night a little more fang-tastic. Waco has plenty of ways to celebrate spooky season with your sweetheart. So grab your boo, pick your poison, and make some hauntingly good memories together. Love may be scary, but a boring date is downright terrifying!
